Good day, neighbors! Danielle Fallon here with your Wednesday Burlington Daily. First, today's weather: Nice with periods of sun. High: 69 Low: 53. Here are the top stories today in Burlington: The Burlington School District is moving to a new budgeting model, which will take effect during the 2022-2023 school year. The district's new budgeting process will focus on equity in schools with the goal of closing the opportunity gap for students. Resources will be allocated based on student enrollment and need; principals and schools will also have control over how the money is spent. (WPTZ)From Wednesday through Friday this week, I-89 in South Burlington will be down to one lane. The closures are scheduled so crews can clean up contaminated soil from a tractor-trailer rollover. The Vermont Agency of Transportation reports that traffic control will be present and drivers should expect delays. (WCAX)Despite being well beyond the summer months, some Burlington beaches are still seeing toxic algae blooms; visitors are advised to swim at their own risk. (WCAX)The Hostile Terrain 94 exhibit, created by the Undocumented Migration Project, comes to the Fletcher Free Library this month. (vtdigger.org) From coupons to free chocolate, some South Burlington businesses are offering incentives in an effort to solve staffing shortages.
