WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Here are some updates from what the Woodbridge Fire Dept. has been doing for the month of September. The Woodbridge Fire Dept. is a mix of volunteer and paid firefighters. On September 10, the Woodbridge Fire Department participated in the Woodbridge Township memorial service commemorating the 20th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks. Of the 2,977 people killed that day, nine were residents of Woodbridge Township. The Woodbridge Fire Department honors all of the victims and especially remember Edward Allegretto, Marilyn Bautista, Patrick Dunn, John Adam Larson, Port Authority Police Officer James Lynch, Charles Mauro, Tonyell McDay, Narender Nath, and Sankara Velamuri. May they never be forgotten. On September 15, the Woodbridge Fire Department celebrated the courageous and selfless work of several of its members who went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure the safety and lives of the residents of Woodbridge Fire District #1. These members were presented a lifesaving award and/or a unit citation in recognition of their outstanding actions. They are a perfect example of what the Woodbridge Fire Department has to offer.
