HOUSTON, TX — A Houston teen has been charged with three counts of murder in connection with a reckless driving incident that killed three valet workers Friday. Ahmedal Tayeb Elnouman Modawi, 17, also is charged with aggravated assault with serious bodily injury, according to the Houston Police Department. Modawi was doing donuts in an Infiniti G37 in a parking lot near the 6000 block of Fairdale Lane when police attempted to pull him over, according to authorities. Modawi evaded the traffic stop and sped off, hitting three valet workers near Prospect Sports Bar, where they worked. Modawi lost control of the car and crashed into a ditch, according to police. Modawi and a male passenger suffered broken legs and were taken to a hospital in stable condition. Modawi was still hospitalized Monday. Modawi was not impaired while driving, police said. Modawi was driving at an estimated speed of 60 mph when he struck the victims, said Sean Teare, chief of the vehicular crimes division at the Harris County District Attorney's Office. "We're talking about three individuals who were just out here working. They were out here doing their job," Teare said. "This one is as egregious as we've seen in a long time in regards to a pursuit." The victims have been identified Fnan Measho, 18, Eric Orduna, 22, and Nick Rodriguez, 23. The families of Measho and Orduna have set up GoFundMe campaigns to help with funeral and burial expenses. Measho was a 2021 graduate of Bellaire High School, where he ran track. He attended the University of Houston and was studying criminology in hopes of becoming a police officer, according to his GoFundMe website.
