Here are the top stories today in Myrtle Beach: North Myrtle Beach Department of Public Safety needs the public's help finding a missing teenager. Cynthia Beautiful Page, 16, was last seen leaving her mother's residence in the Barefoot Resort area wearing red and white pajamas. Call (843) 447-9376 if you have information or have seen Cynthia. (Facebook)Plans are coming together for flood resolutions and policies in Horry County. A 103-page document was presented to Horry County Council outlining flood zones and raising freeboard requirements, as well as reviewing infrastructure needs in the county. Those in the know say it's a good first step, but the comprehensive plan that was presented would be better with more specifics included. The council's subcommittee will meet on Friday . (WMBF)A Myrtle Beach man whose body was found in the Pee Dee River has been identified by the Florence County Coroner as Stanley O'Neal Pickett. Pickett's body and his Ford pickup truck was recovered by divers with the SC Department of Natural Resources on Sunday morning. He went off Highway 378 into the river on September 24. (WBTW)Horry County Schools will receive $2.2 million in federal funding to help students with disabilities. The money comes from the American Rescue Plan, and will be distributed via two grants under the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Funds will be utilized to relieve issues related to the pandemic. (MyHorryNews.com) It's National Fire Prevention Week now through October 9th, and Horry County Fire Rescue is urging residents to learn the sounds of fire safety. The department is putting out the word on how to decipher what sounds a household fire alarm makes, to keep residents safe. Three beeps means smoke; four beeps signals a carbon monoxide warning, and chirping means it's time to change the batteries. The caller has been asking for personal information, including social security numbers, and telling people they've been selected for jury duty. MBPD wants the public to know that no one from the department would call and ask for personal information, and reminds you never to give out information by telephone.
