Elmhurst Residents Among Those Charged: Cops

ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst residents were among those charged in the last few days by Elmhurst police. Here is information from the police reports: Criminal damage Zoey Van Jones, 62, of Elmhurst, was cited at 9 p.m. Friday in the 900 block of South Hawthorne on an ordinance violation of criminal damage to property. She was released on bond. According to a police report, she was "extremely intoxicated" and had broken a front picture window. Outstanding warrant Bradley Mathis, 38, of Elmhurst, was arrested about 8:30 p.m. Thursday on a DuPage County Sheriff's Office warrant. He turned himself in. He was released on bond. Leaving scene of crash Paul Wukasch, 73, of Elmhurst, was cited about 9 a.m. Friday at York and St. Charles on charges of failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and leaving the scene of an accident. He was released on bond. Domestic battery Ahmad Shaquildi, 27, of Bridgeview, was arrested about 4:30 a.m. Saturday in the 700 block of South York on two counts of domestic battery. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. According to a police report, a woman told officers that Shaquildi struck her in the face during an argument. Her forehead was swollen, and her lip was bleeding. Shaquildi had left before officers arrived, but they found him. No valid license Javonte Scott, 22, of Park Forest, was cited about 6:30 a.m. Saturday at Spring and Butterfield on charges of no valid driver's license, transportation of open alcohol and disobeying a traffic control device. He was released on bond. According to a police report, officers found five debit cards on him with five different names. Scott said he did not know the owners of the cards and was going to use them for gas. The cards were placed into evidence pending a further investigation. Felony retail theft Deanna Sowa, 35, of Wheeling, was arrested about 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, on charges of felony retail theft, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail. According to a police report, officers responded to a report of someone attempting to sell drugs. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt.
