ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police have responded to calls about gun discoveries, yelling behind a store, thefts of catalytic converters, the burglary of an unlocked car, a domestic disturbance and unwanted text messages. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Guns found A woman said she found a revolver Friday in her deceased parent's house in the 700 block of Indiana Street. She turned in the weapon to police for destruction. An officer ran the serial number and found it was reported stolen in Villa Park. The gun was turned over to Villa Park police.A resident in the 400 block of Cottage Hill Avenue found two handguns in her home Friday. She turned in the guns to the police department. An officer placed the weapons into evidence for destruction. Yelling behind Kohl's An officer responded to a call about yelling behind Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, about 12:30 p.m. Sunday. A woman said she broke up with her boyfriend of four years in the car on the way back from his house. They were yelling, but no one got physical, she told police. She appeared intoxicated and continued to repeat she was fine. The suspect was contacted by phone and related they broke up and that he was already at home. Converter thefts A catalytic converter was removed from a car between 4 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 a.m. Friday in a parking lot in the 100 block of Fellows Court. Converters were also stolen from Toyota Priuses overnight Thursday in the 900 block of South Route 83 and the 100 block of East Fremont Avenue. The metals in converters have become a lot more valuable. Unlocked car burglarized Two packages were stolen from the front seat of an unlocked car overnight Thursday in the 400 block of Church Street. Curfew violations An officer saw four youths in the 500 block of West North Avenue about 3 a.m. Sunday. All were cited with violating the curfew. They were released to a "responsible party." Domestic disturbance Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 11:30 a.m. Sunday in the 400 block of North Oak Street. A woman said a man grabbed her arm and raised his hand to punch her. No injuries were seen. The suspect denied any battery took place. Both parties agreed to stay away from each other for the night. Unwanted text messages A resident in the 900 block of South Hillcrest told police that she received unwanted text messages Sunday from an unknown number that she said belonged to a particular suspect. The officer contacted the suspect, who said he was not sending the text messages. After the officer contacted the suspect, the suspect called the resident and, in so doing, violated the conditions of his bond from a recent domestic battery arrest. A warrant will be sought for the violation of bail bond.
