Portland Firefighters Battle 3-Alarm Hawthorne Fire, 2 Injured

PORTLAND, OR — One firefighters was hospitalized when a smoke explosion blew out a window of the building where he was helping fight a 3-alarm fire on Tuesday afternoon. It happened around noon at Hawthorne and SE 11th. The building houses Riyahd's Lebanese Restaurant and two vintage shops – Lounge Lizard and Really Good Stuff. All three businesses were closed at the time. In addition to the firefighter who was injured in the explosion, one other was injured. No word yet on what caused the fire, which is under investigation. People are urged to avoid the area.
