Happy Wednesday, Toledo! Here's everything you need to know going on in town today. First, today's weather: A passing afternoon shower. High: 76 Low: 62. Here are the top stories in Toledo today: ODOT (Ohio Dept. of Transportation) and the City of Toledo have partnered up to improve conditions for non-vehicle travelers in the city. Working with a $1.3 million budget, the group will add signage, repaint traffic lines, install wheelchair ramps, and add pedestrian beacons to improve safety. (WTOL) The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department is reporting an alarming rise in the number of overdose deaths in the past few years. Since October 1, there have been six reported overdose deaths in Toledo alone. (13abc Action News) Toledo Police are investigating a shooting death that occurred Monday evening in the 2400 block of Consaul Street. Officers found a 32-year-old man near a 4-wheeler suffering from a gunshot wound who later died at the hospital. (WTOL) The Ability Center and the Toledo Lucas County Public Library are teaming up to bring awareness to books written by, and for, people with disabilities. Several local schools are also participating in the DREAM project (Disability Representation, Education and Awareness in Media). (WNWO NBC 24) Judge Janet Burnside has denied Block Communication Inc.'s request to dismiss a lawsuit brought by the City of Toledo to recoup nearly $1 million in expenses related to the Summit Street Project.
