LAKE GROVE, NY —Brittany Schiavone from Lake Grove and her family will be on NBC's "George to the Rescue" later this month. The home improvement show and its host designer George Oliphant visits people who are making a difference in their community to thank them with a home improvement project. Schiavone founded Brittany's Baskets of Hope in 2014. The nonprofit was her brainchild, a way to help support parents expecting babies with Down Syndrome. "I want to meet moms that are having babies with Down Syndrome and let them know it's going to be okay." The episode will air on October 23. Two other Long Island locations have already been featured on this season of the show—a Greenlawn family who founded a nonprofit to battle childhood cancer in honor of their late daughter and Camp Anchor in Lido Beach, dedicated to special needs children. "George to the Rescue" airs Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. on NBC or on the show's YouTube channel.
