Here are the top stories today in Anchorage: Walmart Loss Prevention on A Street contacted Anchorage police to report that there was a physical disturbance occurring there with a shoplifter armed with a knife at 10:21 pm Thursday. The investigation at the scene would find that 29-year-old Tessa M. Morris had gone into the store and began putting merchandise into her pockets and a suitcase before walking past checkout and into the vestibule of the store and then an altercation broke out. Police arrested Morris after she fled the scene. (Alaska Native News) Mayor Dave Bronson announced that the Municipality of Anchorage, in partnership with WEKA Medical, has started a new COVID-19 treatment center to provide vaccinations, testing, and monoclonal antibody (mAb) treatments. The COVID-19 treatment center will be inside the former Golden Lion Hotel, 1000 E. 36th Avenue, a Municipality of Anchorage-owned building.
