Here are the top stories in Atlanta today: Atlanta is included in a flash flood watch expected to last through early Thursday morning. The National Weather Service Atlanta's forecast is for between 3 and 6 inches of steady rain with some locally heavier downpours that may increase the threat of flooding. There also may be some thunderstorms that could produce lightning and gusty winds, according to forecasters. (Atlanta Patch)In just one day last week, drug enforcement agents in the Atlanta area seized more than 9,000 fentanyl-laced pills and 2 kilograms of pure fentanyl. Part of a two-month crackdown on the extraordinarily lethal drug by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the counterfeit pills are contributing to an unprecedented crisis of overdose deaths in this country. Illegally made by criminal drug networks and created to look like opioid medications such as oxycodone, hydrocodone and others, the fake pills are increasingly more difficult to spot. "The Mexican cartels have gotten so good at producing these pills, it's almost impossible to distinguish between a real one a fake one," said DEA Special Agent in Charge Rob Murphy. (FOX 5 Atlanta) Which parks around Atlanta experience the most violent crimes? According to the Atlanta Police Department, crime statistics show Piedmont Park, the scene of a violent stabbing this summer, is near the top. Data analysis revealed other parks in the top four include Woodruff, Rosa Burney and Grant Park. The good news is the police department is planning to respond with a dedicated division to patrol the major parks. (FOX 5 Atlanta)A former NASCAR driver was killed after attacking his ex-wife with a hatchet, police say. John Wes Townley was fatally shot Saturday night when he attacked his ex-wife and another man with a hatchet at an Athens residence, according to the Athens-Clarke County Police Department. Townley's father is a co-founder of Zaxby's, primary sponsor of his NASCAR vehicle.
