Come enjoy a night of Haitian culture. Honoring the ancestors with food, music, performances, and live drumming.
Fet Gede is an annual celebration that takes place in Haiti and the diaspora that honors the ancestors and fallen loved ones. Comparable to the 'Day of the dead' in Mexico. Families tend to honor the dead by visiting the cemeteries with offerings of flowers, favorite foods, and trinkets of their lost loved ones.
In Vodou, the Gede are an escort of spirits that represent the bridge between life and death. As keepers of the cemetery, they provide protection, foresight, and direct communication for those who've passed on.
Gede is celebrated from the end of October to the beginning of December. This is when they come to the land of the living to communicate and dance amongst us.
This night is to revere the Gede and your honored dead. The traditional attire is White, Black, and Purple. Please visit our Instagram page(@lakoutiayiti_305) for style inspiration.
We are looking forward to seeing you all there!!!!!
