Description
Simple art projects in local parks Sept & Oct! A chance to leave the worries of the world behind and and relax into the arts! Together! Block Print art and the Colors of MS project with Lindsey Holcomb! At this week’s “LOVE [and the ARTS] in the time of COVID” event, the community is invited to come create unique block print art with local artist Lindsey Holcomb! “Ask 100 people what inspires them and gives them hope, and you’ll receive 100 different answers. While some share similar ideas, everyone brings their own unique perspective to the canvas. For this event, attendees will receive a 5"x7" MRI "template" block-print– essentially a black and white, simple depiction of an MRI image. Participants are then free to apply their own creativity and ideas to their template in any way that inspires them. This image was created for an international project called Colors of MS, which invites people to transform their perspective on what diagnosis looks like.” Easy to make, beautiful to apply your own creative imprint, Lindsey will show us how! Join the event on Friday October 22nd from 11:30am-1pm. Bring your own lawn chair; all art materials will be provided. Event is FREE but registration is required, limited to 15 people, we willl be spaced out 6’ apart, to keep everyone safe and healthy. Let’s get together to relax, create something beautiful together, and learn more about Lindsey’s international art project, outside at Rood Bridge Park. Since humans first roamed the earth, the arts have helped humans mitigate the stressors and rigors of daily life. Each week during Sept & Oct, AgeCelebration in partnership with local artists will host simple community art projects outdoors for small groups of 10-15 people in beautiful green spaces throughout Hillsboro to relax into the healing nature of the arts. Each week will feature the work of different local artists and take place at a different outdoor location. “LOVE [and the ARTS] in the time of COVID” is part of AgeCelebration’s ongoing “Outdoors Arts Together (OATS)” community art initiative. Since 2003, AgeCelebration has been bringing people together to #createcommunity and foster belonging and connection, one community program at a time.
