The Center for Spirituality and Sustainability will hold its 2021 Celebration of World Faiths on Wednesday, October 20th at 7:00 pm The Center for Spirituality and Sustainability will hold its 2021 Celebration of World Faiths on Wednesday, October 20th at 7:00 pm in the Fuller Dome on the SIUE campus. The program will feature a, 45 minute, film created by CSS, “Compassion is Natural When You See the All in All,” followed by a discussion and Q&A with the film’s presenter, CSS Director, Benjamin Lowder. Lowder’s presentation connects the theme of ‘compassion’ to the legacy of Buckminster Fuller through use of the Fuller Dome as an architectural metaphor that dissolves boundaries and reveals the sacred geometry of Nature to promote a unified and compassionate worldview. This annual CSS event focuses on building unity and understanding in alignment with the Center’s mission to “promote humanity’s sacred connection to the earth and each other.” The Celebration of World Faiths’ film screening in the Fuller Dome is free and open to the public—however, registration is required to join us in person. Due to Covid restrictions, capacity is limited to the first 35 registrants. The Fuller Dome is a Buckminster Fuller designed, miniature earth, geodesic dome located on the SIUE campus just off of Circle Drive next to visitor parking lot B. For more information call the Center at (618) 650-3246 or email [email protected] The Center for Spirituality and Sustainability is an independent, not-for-profit organization located in a geodesic dome designed by Buckminster Fuller on land leased from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE). Since 1971 the Center has served the University and area communities as a place for multifaith and interfaith activity.  A variety of educational, cultural and social events are held throughout the year inside this landmark structure. Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, Baha’i and Native American faith traditions hold devotions, celebrations and public programs at the Center. A “Celebration of World Faiths” is held annually, highlighting various faith traditions and interfaith issues. The Center also hosts an annual awards ceremony honoring two awardees each year. One award is presented for spiritual leadership and another for leadership in sustainability. These annual dual awards allow the Center recognize those who have shown leadership values that reenforce the Center's mission to promote humanity's sacred connection to the Earth and each other.
