RIO THEATER to dedicate ED ASNER DAY in SONOMA CA, with screening of UP and SENIOR ENTOURAGE. LIZA ASNER to accept posthumoour award. The late, lovable, legendary ED ASNER who helped save the historic RIO THEATER in Sonoma county last Christmas will receive a posthumous award Oct. 16 @ 5pm @ ( ADDRESS) LIZA ASNER is set to receive the honor on behalf of her dearly departed father. SENIOR ENTOURAGE director BRIAN CONNORS and producer/actor DAVID LOCKHART will present the award to Liza ED ASNER who won 8 Emmy Awards and 5 Golden Globes . drove nine hours from Hollywood to be involved in a promo video in hopes to raise funds and preserve the historic theater after rumors circulated that it could be turned into a parking lot Just like his character Santa Clause in his Christmas classic ELF, Mr. Asner was able to save the day . SENIOR ENTOURAGE actor/producer David Lockhart who grew up and spent his childhood summers in Sonoma has been enjoying films at the RIO THEATER since he was a toddler. Lockhart wanted to ensure that his son and future generations would be able to share that joy. With the help of Ed Asner’s visit and promo video , Lockhart and his business partners ( Bryan Gallinger, Dan Jahns, Paul Dubray and Kim Lockhart) were able to raise the funds needed to purchase the Rio theater and save it. They have high hopes of renovating the theater to bring happiness to all in the Russian River Valley. The theater has been rebranded the MONTE RIO THEATER AND EXTRAVAGANZA "We want to properly thank ED ASNER for what he did for the arts and this community. Now we will do everything we can to improve and renovate this amazing space for all Sonoma County and future generations." Lockhart says "Our efforts here today are to remind people that The Rio is an institution that is worthy and merits support. As Ed Asner so eloquently explained in the promo video. " THE RIO is the heart of this community and and such a magical location right next to the Russian River under the majestic Redwoods " SENIOR ENTOURAGE directed by BRIAN CONNORS starring ED ASNER, HELEN REDDY, CHARLIE ROBINSON, MARION ROSS & MARK RYDELL was one of Asner’s last films and will at 3pm The animated Disney classic UP stars ED ASNER and will screen @ 6pm outdoors on the Monte Rio lawn overlooking the beautiful Russian River. Emmy Award winning producer and the American Martial Arts Hall of Fame Action Star of the Year David Lockhart, aka the official "Rock and Roll Actor," grew up in the backwoods of Oakland, CA.After studying at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and being the lead in productions including Bernard Shaw's Misalliance, and Tennessee William's Orpheus Descending, David became a writer, producer and correspondent for TechTV's Emmy Award winning shows X-Play and Internet Tonight. His career continued with starring roles in the independent films The Crow: Purgatory 2, The Dead and the Damned, Playing with Dolls, Dead Ant, Rock n Roll Zombie Apocalypse, Senior Entourage and the action thriller, Lockhart: Unleashing the Talisman, the first film in a trilogy inspired by his own family history dating back to Robert the Bruce, the king of Scotland.As a rock star front man, David has toured all over the world spreading the good gospel of rock and roll. He recently performed at the legendary Clock Tower in Mumbai, India. As the lead singer of the Stereoblasters, he toured Japan and China and has opened up for iconic rock bands including Jefferson Starship, Big Brother and the Holding Company, and Ray Manzerik, Bobby Krieger, and John Dunsmore of the Doors at the 45th Anniversary of the Monterey Pop Festival.In 2018 David received an honorary media award as part of the national launch of SSTV in Beijing, China, and the Best Actor award at the 2018 LANFA International Film Festival. In his spare time, David enjoys practicing martial arts moves with his five-year-old son and overseeing theater and music events hosted by Artistspalooza, a 501©3 nonprofit that he created to support other artists. In 2020 he and his wife became the owners of the Rivers Edge Kayak and Canoe on the Russian River in Sonoma county.
