Press release from the City of West Palm Beach: 10/02/2021 The city and Affiliated Development recently broke ground on "The Grand," an $81M mixed-income workforce housing project. The complex is the most significant investment in the city's Historic Northwest. The Grand will offer 301 one- and two-bedroom apartments and nine three-bedroom townhomes, as well as ground floor commercial space. The city's newest public artwork, Sun Salutations, will be installed by artist Vito di Bari on Friday, October 8, 2021, in Sunset Park, located at 3601 North Australian Avenue. Sun Salutations marks the first public artwork located in the Northshore neighborhood. Your Input Wanted on 8111 S. Dixie Highway Redevelopment Proposals City Updates Customers on Safe Drinking Water In Memory of Officer Anthony Testa City Hall and the Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach will be closed on Monday, October 11, 2021 in observance of Columbus Day, a federal holiday. Sanitation services including trash and garbage pickup will be provided. On Tuesday, City Hall will reopen (by appointment only) at 8 a.m., and the library will reopen at 9:30 a.m. City Commission Updates ICYMI: City Passes Balanced $206M General Fund Budget Public Art Collaboration Spruces Up Downtown Trash Compactors Hispanic Heritage Month The city is observing Hispanic Heritage Month through October 15, 2021. This observance celebrates the histories, cultures and contributions of Latinos/Hispanics. The city, along with its partners, and the Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach (411 Clematis Street), will host various FREE community events throughout the month. The WPBPD and the Criminal Justice Advisory Committee are joining forces for the Tamarind Slam. The community basketball event will feature basketball instruction from local college, high-school and private basketball coaches. West Palm Beach community members ages 8 and older are invited to participate. There will be food, vendors, trucks and a DJ. No registration is required.
