There is nothing, I repeat nothing preventing Democrats from raising the Debt Ceiling. All they have to do is raise it using the reconciliation process which is allowed twice a year and its a done deal. They know this but want cover from Republicans for being partially responsible, wisely the Republicans know it which is why they won't budge. If the Democrats want it so bad they can own it 100%. The Debt Ceiling is only raised for future spending not paying for past spending, Biden flat out lied and you're too ignorant of the facts to know better. That's why during Trump's Presidency it was raised 4 times to compensate for possible tax collection decrease but also for new spending like increasing the military's budget. I know you're not going to say Trump raised the Debt Ceiling to pay for Obama's doubling of the National Debt to $20 Trillion, an increase of $10 Trillion for those of you living in Rio Linda. You haven't heard what the Democrats want the Debt Ceiling raised to because in fact for the next two fiscal years they want an unlimited Debt Ceiling to spend as much as possible. Every other Debt Ceiling increase had a number attached to it, Trump's increase last year was to $4.25 Trillion. Biden's doesn't have a number because he wants it unlimited. In fact right now Pelosi is talking to her Party trying to eliminate it altogether so they can spend whatever they want without discussion. Even if Democrats force a shutdown and it will be them if it happens because they have all the power, they can use the reconciliation process, 85% of the government's bills will be paid including the National Debt, Social Security, Medicare etc. It's not really a shutdown at all. Some government workers will go without pay and a few others but that's it. Very few Republicans or Democrats will suffer that's another exaggeration like Climate Change is. It's a shame you Democrats are so woefully ignorant of the facts and truth. LMFAO Republicans (Trump) raised the debt ceiling almost annually each of the 4 years that Trump was in office. Now.... republicans re trying to stone wall the democrats on raising thew debt ceiling to pay off our debts that were incurred while Trump was in office. The debt ceiling has to do with last years debt, not future debt. Trump spent money that was not in the budget. Biden is trying to pay these debts off. Personally, I am all for a federal government shut down. Sometime es the extremes are how we find ways too get the gs done and find ways to improve. I could care less if our government shuts down for months on end. Sometimes you need things to break before you overhaul them. Republicans are the ones who benefit greatly from all of the federal contracts. Republicans are the ones who will suffer during a shut down. A shut down will not affect people like me in the least.
