DANVERS, MA —Toby Hewitt is running 26.2 miles toward Boston to raise money so more Boston Public School Students will have a chance to enjoy a unique opportunity about one mile offshore.
The Danvers resident is running the 125th Boston Marathon on Oct. 11 as part of the Thompson Island Outward Bound team. Thompson Island is one of the most accessible Boston Harbor islands and hosts weddings, corporate events and nature's classroom workshops where middle school students get a chance to get outside for a day or week and learn more about their environment.
Hewitt has been the executive chef at Thompson Island since 2018 for events and helping serve the core mission of working with Boston's youth.
Hewitt's goal is to raise $7,500 for Outward Bound and is almost there with just a few days to go before the big race.
Patch readers can support his efforts here.
"Thompson Island is a great place with an awesome staff, and one of my favorite places to work, that can put your financial support to good use," he said.
