WEST HAVEN, CT — The 2021 municipal election is heating up in West Haven with plenty of races on the ballot. Voters will head to the polls Tuesday, Nov. 2 and cast their ballots for the position of mayor, along with seats on the City Council, Board of Education and more. West Haven Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as election day draws near. Bridgette Hoskie, 51, is running for re-election to the West Haven City Council in the 1st District as a Democrat. Occupation: Analyst Family: 4 children, 3 sons and a daughter Experience: Councilperson Family in government: No The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it: To build on the amazing work we have done thus far. It is important that we continue to make West Haven a place developers want to do business with. Now that our finances are stable and we are standing on solid ground there is a focus to bring in more development to lower the tax burden on our residents. Critical differences between me and my opponents: I am not interested in bashing others. What I feel is important is that I don't make promises I can't keep on the campaign trail or tell people what they want to hear. I tell the constituents what the truth is and I don't exaggerate or gloss over things to earn a vote. Accomplishments: Chair of the Finance committee and responsible for facilitating 2 balanced budgets, (4 in 4 years) I work cooperatively with the Mayor and the MARB, and supported increased funding for public safety and infrastructure. I fight for increased transparency and citizen involvement. What else would you like voters to know about you? That I believe it is important to vote on fact.
