WALLINGFORD, CT — A Wallingford police officer has been charged in connection with a crash in Orange on Sept. 25, according to the Record-Journal. Willie J. Belton, 28, Cromwell, received a misdemeanor summons and was charged with evading responsibility and failure to maintain proper lane, according to Orange police. Belton was identified as the driver of a vehicle that crashed into a tree on Lambert Road at Hall Drive in Orange, police said in a news release. The crash happened around 2:45 a.m. on Sept. 25. Orange police said Belton was picked up by another vehicle after the crash and taken to a local hospital. Orange police later met with Belton at the hospital.
