Description

Hello October! What a beautiful month filled with color, vibrant sunsets, mums, and Halloween. Each first-Monday-of-the-month, I record a new vlog on my YouTube Channel, Skylark Live. Each vlog is unique with a new topic. This month, it's Sounds of Healing for the Change of Seasons. As we age, 60 and beyond, we may find ourselves recalling memories that comfort us. Sound can play a key role in conjuring up emotions that bring us comfort, excitement, joy, peace, and contentment. Some of my favorite sounds that come to mind are birds, wind, children playing, music, laughter, crickets, a buzzing bee, a car passing in the night, a jet taking off, a motorcycle, a thunder storm, and rain. I especially love the sound of rain at night. Sounds of Healing can be found in all of these things. These sounds may illuminate memories that have been dormant for some time. If we focus on these sounds, we can bring them closer to our mind and stimulate us in positive ways.  Other sounds can simply involve using sound vibrations to relax our mind, body, and soul. Sound healing can be through the use of sacred instruments or voice to release energetic blockages inducing a state of ease and harmony in the body. While there are many types of sound therapy, all of them produce vibrations that alter our brain waves. Some useful tools include gongs, singing bowls, chanting, chimes, and drumming. I especially enjoy drumming and have attended many drum circles on the beaches of Long Island. Drumming is a gentle vibration, and it can stimulate body systems in healthful ways. Using shakers while dancing to drumming is a dimensional sound that can add layers to rhythm and enhance sound for healing. Whether it's natural sounds, sounds of instruments, or man-made sounds, Sounds of Healing for the Change of Seasons can aid us in transitioning from one season to the next with ease and grace. Each season has its unique sounds so calling our attention to the sounds of the season can prepare us for what's to come as newness is on the horizon.  Thank you for taking the time to read my article. Be sure to take a listen to my vlog that will be posted on my YouTube Channel (please subscribe), Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Linkedin; all under my brand, Skylark Live. Love and Peace, Skylark
