She advanced past horses late and drawing away by 2 ½ lengths while under wraps in Saturday's $150,000 Selima at Laurel Park. Ridden by Victor Carrasco for trainer Chad Brown, Consumer Spending was the 2-5 favorite in a field of eight. She completed the distance in 1:43.21 over a firm All Along layout for her second consecutive win. (laurelpark.com) A father and son have been indicted in a kidnapping plot that resulted in a death. The pair allegedly stole and sold marijuana from the victim. The United States Attorney's Office for the District of Maryland said that a grand jury returned an indictment against Scott Anthony Williams, 45, of Laurel and Taeyan Raymond Williams, 26, of West Virginia, relating to the 2018 kidnapping, extortion and killing of the victim who was described as a marijuana dealer. According to the indictment, the pair had a relationship with the victim and bought marijuana from him for redistribution. They sold cocaine to him, which he allegedly then resold. (WTOP) Governor Larry Hogan has proclaimed October as Maryland Horse Month. He is highlighting the historic, recreational, therapeutic, and economic contributions made by Maryland's horse industry.
