SECAUCUS, NJ — This man who police say committed various thefts from different locations in town has been apprehended by Secaucus Police.
Police say the man first stole a men's black mountain bike from a home on 8th Street Sunday. He also stole a cell phone from an employee at the BP gas station in town, said police.
Secaucus Police asked the public to check their Ring doorbell footage or other security systems to see if the man was seen on doorsteps. He was described as a thin man, 140-150 pounds and approximately 5'8". He was last seen wearing blue sweat pants, white sneakers, a beige-colored shirt and carrying a blue bag.
The man was identified as Jason England, 37, of Brooklyn.
Police say he first stole the mountain bike at 8:52 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 3 from a home on the 700 block of 8th Street and was captured on a surveillance camera. Then at 9:51 a.m. that same day, the BP gas station attendant on Paterson Plank Rd. reported his cell phone was stolen by a man fitting the same description.
"Detective Joseph Fuardo of the Anti-Crime Unit participated in the search for the suspect and located Jason England on Flanagan Way/7th Street," said Police Chief Dennis Miller. "He was found in possession of the stolen bicycle and the stolen cell phone.
Even though England was apprehended, Miller is still asking all Secaucus residents to check their security cameras to see if there is additional footage of England.
"Any resident who was the victim of a theft that hasn't reported it yet, should contact the SPD, as we believe England may be involved in additional thefts," said Chief Miller.
