Description

The Koma Kulshan chapter of the Washington Native Plant Society regularly holds field trips that are typically free and open to the public! Destination: Fenton Land Preserve, 8906 Valley View Rd, Custer, WA Date: Sunday, October 10, 2021 Time: 10:00 am Parking information: Please park at the entrance where there is room for 2-3 cars or across the street at Haynie Cemetery. **Space is limited to 8, so pre-registration is required. Please visit for information on how to pre-register with the trip leader.** Field trip description: This will be a basic introduction to lichens and mosses at the Fenton Land Preserve, which is a Whatcom Land Trust property. The trail circumnavigates a small pond through mixed conifer/deciduous forest. It is approximately 2 miles with no noticeable elevation gain. Please bring a hand lens if you have one. We will be exploring the woods for lichens and mosses and will get to see some interesting trees and tree formations as well. We observe current Washington state COVID safety guidelines during every field trip. In general, face masks are required outdoors for large outdoor gatherings. Carpooling between members of different households is discouraged.
