Here are the top stories in Franklin and nearby communities today: The YMCA of Middle Tennessee has announced a plan to build the tallest building in Nashville, set to be 750-feet tall. The YMCA plans to turn its downtown Church Street location into a 100,000 square-foot, 60-story residential tower. The construction is slated to begin in Jan. of 2023 and during construction, the YMCA will keep its 2008 building open. (WKRN News 2) Vanderbilt University Medical Center researchers have contributed to the first pill that cuts COVID hospitalization and death risk in half. Merck's oral antiviral, known as molnupiravir, could be effective against some of the worst effects of the virus. VUMC says the pill was first shown to be effective against coronaviruses, including COVID-19, in the lab of Dr. Mark Denison.
