Here are the top stories today in Myrtle Beach: Governor Henry McMaster was in Myrtle Beach on Monday to announce that he is recommending $300 million in state funds be allotted to build I-73. He estimates that the much-needed evacuation route project will bring in about 29,000 new jobs. Congressman Tom Rice has been pushing for the roadway for at least ten years. I-73 would start in Marlboro County, go through Dillon County, cross I-95 and then come into Horry County using Highway 22. The estimated 1.3 billion dollar project is slated to begin in about two years. (WBTW)The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers moved up to number 15 in the AP Poll ranking after a big win over Louisiana Monroe on Saturday. On the same day, six teams in the top 15 lost their games. The team goes on to play Arkansas State on Thursday night to continue the Sun Belt Conference. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU. (WMBF)Drunken Jack's Restaurant is teaming up with Tidelands Health to offer a $25 gift card to the first 25 people who get a vaccine at Inlet Affairs on the Marshwalk this Wednesday, October 6th. The vaccines will be offered at Inlet Affairs between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. (WPDE) South Carolina Highway Patrol has charged a Myrtle Beach woman with felony DUI causing great bodily injury, after her vehicle crashed with a motorcycle last week on Highway 707. The woman did not yield and her automobile was struck by the motorcycle. She was arrested then released on a $7,500 bond. The condition of the motorcycle driver is unknown at this time. (WBTW) Horry Georgetown Technical College's gators are participating in the Mascot Recycling Challenge along with the SC Department of Commerce. As part of America Recycles Day, the winner will be announced on November 15. Seven other schools are participating in the challenge that encourages colleges and universities to recycle plastic bottles, and bring awareness to the Carolinas about the environmental benefits of recycling.
