SANT CRUZ COUNTY, CA -- Santa Cruz County Public Health today announced two additional deaths related to COVID-19.
The first individual was a Caucasian female in her mid-60s with underlying medical conditionswho passed away September 3rd. The cause of death was determined to be COVID-19 by theSanta Cruz County Coroner.
The second individual was also a Caucasian female in her early 70s with underlying medical conditions who passed away September 24th. In both cases, the infections were community-acquired, according to SCCPH.
These deaths are the 214th and 215th in Santa Cruz County attributable to COVID-19.
These deaths also represent the first in the County among vaccinated individuals. Both hadsignificant underlying conditions that contributed to their deaths. If individuals have underlyingmedical conditions or are immunocompromised, Santa Cruz Public Health recommends gettingan additional dose COVID-19 as soon as possible. Vaccination greatly reduces the risk ofhospitalization and death, and reduces the risk of passing the virus on to others.
