Press release from the City of Wheaton: October 4, 2021 UPDATE 1:05 P.M.: Wheaton Police have concluded their investigation in the area of West Street and Liberty Drive. This area has been cleared, and there is no longer a police presence in the area.  ORIGINAL POST: There is currently an increased police presence in the area of West Street and Liberty Drive as officers attempt to locate an individual who fled a traffic stop. There is no immediate threat to the community. Wheaton Police are sharing this message to inform the community of the reason for the large police presence near a residential area, and there is no known danger to the community.  Drivers can assist by avoiding the area of West Street and Liberty.
