Description

PLAINFIELD, IL — Do you have unwanted prescriptions but don't know what to do with them? Illinois Representative Mark Batinick is hosting a free, outdoor drop-off Saturday where Plainfield-area residents can dispose of their unwanted or expired medications. From 8 a.m. until 11 a.m., residents can stop by the Plainfield Police Department, at 14300 Coil Plus Drive, where controlled, non-controlled and over-the-counter substances will be collected. People can drive up and stay in their cars during the drop-off. Pharmaceutical tablets and capsules in consumer containers will be accepted, and people can also drop off pint-size bottles of cough syrup as long as they're sealed in their original container. Officials said pharmacies, hospitals and physicians are not allowed to dispose of excess medications at the event. Illegal substances and needles won't be accepted at the event. In a news release, Plainfield police noted marijuana as a drug that won't be accepted. Anyone with more questions about the event or what's acceptable can contact the Plainfield Police Department or Batinick's office.
