Description

PITTSBURGH, PA — After a week of adventures through city and suburban neighborhoods, Kodiak is back where he belongs. The National Aviary's Steller's Sea Eagle was retrieved safely on Sunday after being spotted by residents in Pine Township. Using professional falconry techniques and equipment, aviary staffers recovered Kodiak and returned him to the aviary. A veterinary exam showed the eagle to be in excellent health. He was being fed meals of fresh meat Sunday night, according to aviary social media posts. Kodiak escaped from the aviary on Sept. 25 and made headlines locally and nationally as people tracked his shifting whereabouts. The entire team at the National Aviary is extremely relieved to have Kody back, and would like to share our gratitude to the community of supporters who helped in these efforts. pic.twitter.com/MObNULgITx— National Aviary (@National_Aviary) October 4, 2021 Be the first to know what's happening in your community and region.
