PHILADELPHIA — A nurse is dead and two police officers are hurt following a shooting at Jefferson Hospital Monday morning, according to reports. Action News reports a 55-year-old man shot and killed a 43-year-old coworker at the hospital early Monday. The gunman left the hospital in a U-Haul vehicle which was later spotted by a civilian at 40th and Parkside, Fox 29 reports. According to NBC10, police confronted the man, who then fired at officers, striking two at about 1:45 a.m. The officers were hit in the elbow and nose. Both are expected to recover, Fox reports. Police fired back at the man, striking him in the upper body and back. The gunman is in critical condition, but expected to survive. Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said the gunman was wearing body armor and was armed with handgun and a rifle believed to be an AR-15, Fox reports. The identities of the victim, gunman, and police shot have not been released.
