PORTLAND, OR – A serial killer convicted of three murders but who said he killed up to a dozen more, died Sunday while in prison. Sebastian Shaw was 53 years old. He was convicted of raping a woman in 1995. While in prison, Shaw said that he killed between 10 and 12 other people. He offered to give prosecutors details on the other murders in return for a promise that he wouldn't have face the death penalty. Prosecutors said no deal. Shaw did face the death penalty at his trial in 2006 but the jury couldn't come to a unanimous decision, which unlike what was needed for criminal convictions, was required at the time. The department of corrections has not released information how Shaw died.
