Press release from the University of Toledo: 2021-10-04 The University of Toledo Medical Center is offering at-home COVID antigen tests at no cost to patients. The tests have been made available from the state of Ohio and are available while supplies last. "The at-home tests are ideal for patients who are seeking a COVID test to return to work or school or need to provide a negative test result to participate in organizational activities, events or travel," said Russ Smith, UTMC's chief pharmacy officer, quality and safety officer and administrator for the Eleanor N. Dana Cancer Center. "They provide quick, convenient test results without having to schedule a clinic appointment." The tests are available for pick up at the front desk of the UTMC emergency department 24 hours a day or at the Comprehensive Care Center during normal clinic hours. Patients of UTMC clinics who need a COVID test and who are not experiencing a medical emergency or seeking medical treatment are encouraged to use one of the at-home tests. The test kit, manufactured by BinaxNOW, includes a nasal swab and a test the size of a credit card. A smartphone or tablet with a camera and internet connection is required to complete the test, which is virtually guided by an e-Med Certified Guide. Test results are available in 15 minutes.
