Description

AGOURA HILLS, CA — Southern California Edison conducted routine inspections on their equipment via helicopter in Westlake Village and Malibu Monday morning, according to SCE. The inspections occurred between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. using special cameras attached to a helicopter, which allows them to check equipment in hard-to-reach high fire risk areas. The cameras can detect any flaws in equipment, SCE said. Residents were notified ahead of time via SCE's notification system, and SCE personnel went door-to-door Monday to notify residents of the helicopter inspections. The 2017 Woolsey fire, which destroyed over 670 structures in Malibu, was caused by SCE equipment, according to California Attorney General Rob Bonta. SCE regularly checks their equipment to ensure the safety of their equipment and quality of service in a given area, according to the company.
