PHOENIX, AZ — Phoenix Police say four people died in four separate vehicle crashes from Friday morning to Sunday morning.
Just before 2:30 a.m. Friday, there was a crash near Central Avenue and Camelback Road. A car was rear ended by an SUV, and the passenger in the car was taken to a local hospital with extremely critical injuries.
Police say the woman, 37-year-old Andreanna Blaine, was later pronounced dead. A 42-year-old woman, who was driving the SUV, was arrested on suspicion that she was driving impaired.
Two fatal crashes happened Saturday before noon. In the first crash, officers say, a man driving north on 43rd Avenue lost control of his vehicle around 9:45 a.m. He veered left, hitting a pickup truck, police said.
The man, 18-year-old Jacob Moreno, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the occupants of the pickup truck were not injured, and that impairment is not believed to be a factor.
Police say a man jumped out of a moving vehicle and was run over by the driver in a parking lot near 32nd Street and Camelback Road around 11 a.m. Saturday. The man was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead.
On Sunday morning around 9 a.m., police say, the driver of an SUV hit a block wall near a residence in the area of 31st Avenue and Dunlap Avenue. A female passenger, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead on the scene. A female passenger was taken to a local hospital in and was in critical condition.
Police say they suspect that impairment was a factor in the crash.
