We need Independent Contractors on an as-needed (per diem) basis No experience is needed and some training is available for highly motivated individuals who want to learn. PREFERRED--- drafters, architects, or with similar skills or experience to conduct structural condition assessments (inspections) of roofs of single family homes and small commercial/utility buildings. You will checking the condition of the roof framing, taking field measurements, and creating sketches of the roofs. AutoCAD is preferred, but hand sketches are acceptable if easily legible. The hand sketches can be written over a photograph of the roof(s), scanned, and emailed back to us with your Report. The Report will include the field measurements, an observational examination of the existing structures/framing, and a review of any drawings, blueprints, or sketches that were available. You will need to be able to copy any available drawings or blueprints while on site...or take to a local printing/scanning service and return to the building owner. You may also need to stop in to the local Town Hall for additional information (or ask the building owner for that information) If there is a crawl space or attic under the roof you will want to go into those areas to document the framing (size, spacing, condition, etc.) You will need to have reliable transportation and a complement of ladders, harnesses, and personal protection equipment on hand. Only hand measuring tools and a laser are used. That should include a laser transit (but you can use tape measures if you are good at climbing roofs). Some destructive testing may be required - like removing drywall, roofing tiles, drilling inspection holes, etc. There is also an opportunity to do some repair work (like repairing the drywall, painting, etc.) for an additional amount, usually $350 or so. You will also need a high-resolution camera drone (we recommend a DJI Mavic Air 2 or better) Must be adequately insured - be able to produce a COI when requested Able to ACCURATELY document dimensions on a photograph of the roofs -- draw the dimensions on the roof pictures EXACTLY as measured Able to travel to Sites anywhere in the general Albany area with a 1-2 week turnaround required on all sites After your initial few sites, you should be able to finish each site visit in 20-30 minutes each + driving time. Plus time in your office to complete the Report (approx. 1 hour). You will have at least 3 sites at a time each day and within 20 miles of each other. Some weeks you will have 5-10 sites, some weeks nothing (you are filling in when the demand exceeds our current capabilities).
