Horace is an adult male Russian tortoise that was surrendered back in April. He originally had a fungal shell infection, which resulted in some permanent shell damage, but he has healed up very well with us and is finally ready to go up for adoption. Horace loves food and has a good appetite. Please note that tortoises do best in outdoor enclosures when weather is appropriate--a new home must be able to provide an indoor enclosure for winter (no aquariums) and offer outdoor time with a secure outdoor habitat. His adoption fee is $75. In the picture with all 3 tortoises, Horace is the one in the back. PLEASE READ! If you are interested in adopting Horace, you need to fill out an application at www.bewildnc.org/apply. Read the application carefully and answer the questions thoroughly. Above all, be honest! Research the species you would like to adopt in advance and consult multiple sources, we are happy to answer questions. Adopters agree to pick-up the animal in Durham within 7 days of their approval. Due to the current pandemic, adoptions will be performed with social distancing in mind.
