AIA MKE along with Royal Building Products is presenting the 3rd annual Ghost Tour “Spooks & Spirits” tour. This year we attempt to explore “Wicked Westtown”, for the first time ever. Milwaukee Author Anna Lardinois of “Milwaukee Ghosts & Legends” will show us a look beyond what you see every day and explore a world of hidden pasts and dark secrets, restless spirits, and eerie sightings. This 90-minute walking tour will begin and end on the front steps of the Milwaukee Public Library’s Central location, 814 W Wisconsin Avenue. On the tour we’ll explore the haunted locations along Wisconsin Avenue, including the spook-tacular Marquette Campus, the Pabst Mansion, and we’ll steal a glimpse at the infamous Ambassador Hotel…. This two -mile walk will not take breaks. This is a rain or shine tour, so lace up your comfy shoes and bring an umbrella if sprinkles are in the forecast. Of course, this is the AIA so we will also be focusing on the lack of safety features implemented, which may explain why there are so many ghosts from the past still here. The tour will start at 4:30 until around 6:00 with refreshment’s at Miller Time Pub and Grill (509 W. Wisconsin Ave) after the tour. Costumes are not required, but gladly encouraged…. Learning Objectives: Describe how Milwaukee Public Library has been going through renovations while keeping the original structure and design intact. Explain how the Ambassador Hotel has been renovated to allow for mix uses.Review how student housing typology has changed over years to improve health, safety, and wellness.Learn how multiuse zoning has impacted the development of Marquette Campus over the years.Hosted by AIA Milwaukee Space is limited **This is a rain or shine walking tour, please dress appropriately.** Submitted for AIA/CES approval AIA Wisconsin has been the leading professional membership association for licensed architects, emerging professionals, and allied partners since 1911.
