Join us for a cold water clinic and learn how to be safe when the water temperature drops. We'll discuss pre-trip planning, cold water gear to make trips safer and more comfortable, inspecting and donning your cold weather gear, rescue techniques for re-boarding your kayak in deep water, assisted recovery techniques, the waters effects on the body, and strategies for post rescue re-warming.
Your TKAA President, Ron Cagle, is VMRC Officer whose career gives him unique experience and insight in the realm of boating/kayaking safety, and is a great speaker on this topic.
Come on out with your kayak and what you’re going to wear for cold weather fishing and test it out with us. Nothing gives you peace of mind on the water like knowing your gear is going to work!
Remember, the paddlers that get in trouble are often the ones that don't prepare, please join us and do your best to be prepared when the temperature drops!!
Also, it's a great opportunity to come out and meet new members or socialize with ones you already know. This event will be hosted by Oak Tree Outfitters and they will be providing lunch for our participants. Come on out and we look forward to seeing you there!!
