Physical fitness is key for volunteers to be able to respond during an emergency.
Our next hike is on Saturday, October 9th, at 9am in Griffith Park.
We'll meet at the Griffith Park Carousel, west of the Ranger Station (4730 Crystal Springs Dr.). Our CP should be on the service road as you enter the parking lot. Look for Ted.
Our hike will take us from the Command Post and follow along, just above the 5 freeway, up to Glendale Peak, down Vista Del Valle and back to the CP on the Bill Eckert Trail. This should be a 5-mile hike.
To promote our program and present a positive image please wear your favorite CERT or NTP t-shirt. Bring a comfortable pair of shoes, water, a mask and a desire to accomplish the mission. During the hike we'll discuss the location for next month's hike.
We continue with an ACS Command Post and a communications element to our hike. At the Command Post, they promote CERT & ACS to visitors and communicate with the hike team, which is vital to volunteer accountability.
Bring your FRS or Ham radio and test your communication skills. Monitor ACS 1, while driving to the CP and we'll use FRS 5 for the hike.
If you want more CERT training opportunities sign up with the Neighborhood Team Program https://join.ntp-la.org.
Several volunteers have suggested we do other hikes. We'll continue with our second Saturday of the month hikes and will have special hikes sponsored by one of our volunteers. Email me at [email protected], to support a hike in your neighborhood.
