NEW ROCHELLE, NY — An overnight crash has taken the lives of a 36-year-old man and a seven-year-old. The seven-year-old's twin brother and 11-year-old sister were rushed to the hospital. Last night, just after 1:30 a.m., New Rochelle Police, Fire and EMS responded to a report of a car accident with injuries on Pelhamdale Avenue at the intersection with the Hutchinson River Parkway Northbound exit ramp. First responders found that a gray Nissan Altima, with a man and three of his children inside, had crashed into a brick retaining wall on the opposite side of the exit ramp. The 36-year-old driver had severe injures from the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Twin seven-year-old brothers were found in the back seat. Both were transported to Jacobi Hospital with severe injuries. One brother was pronounced dead at the hospital while the other was undergoing emergency surgery for severe internal injuries. The front seat passenger, an 11-year-old girl, was also rushed to Jacobi Hospital and underwent surgery for internal injuries and is recovering in stable condition. Police said the cause of the accident is still under investigation. "The City of New Rochelle and the New Rochelle Police and Fire Departments offer its sincere condolences to the family and friends of these victims," officials said in a statement announcing the early morning tragedy. The names of the victims are not being released at this time.
