Description
- Seeking:
Talented musician(s) and/or vocalists who want to play interesting and inspired original music. Hope to find folks that are into collaborating and bringing fresh ideas into a new group. Ideally, interested parties would be pretty good at their instrument and comfortable in both lead and support roles. Improv skills would be a huge plus. What not to play is nearly as important as what to play, if you follow.
Pretty much all instruments are welcome—even (especially?) ones not normally found in a rock music context.
It should go without saying, but individuals of any gender, race, and background are 100% welcome. Be who you are.
- Who We Are:
Two men in their mid-30s that play rock music that’s pretty jazz-influenced/informed. We’ve got a fair amount of experience live and in the studio. One primarily plays the guitar, vocals, the other primarily guitar and keyboard instruments. Neither of us are virtuoso types, but have a pretty good handle on the melodic, rhythmic, and harmonic business that keeps music interesting (at least to our ears).
We’ve played in groups together for years and want to start a new project with new tunes. We’ve been writing new tunes that we’re working on arranging and demo-ing out. We’d like to play live and record some stuff and have a cool band/group dynamic. Very open to playing others’ songs if they fit with the general vibe.
The general vibe will be somewhere on the jazz/rock spectrum—lots of attention paid to songwriting and dynamics with amplified instruments—some shorter tunes, some longer tunes with free form/solo sections.
- Interests:
art/psychedelic/progressive/avant rock, jazz/rock/fusion, contemporary/post-war jazz, canterbury, música popular brasileira, kosmische musik, and lots more.
- Next Steps:
If you’re at all interested, please reach out. Happy to exchange recordings of previous projects and demos of new material. We’ve got a studio/rehearsal space in Cap Hill for potential jams.
Thanks for reading.
