PITTSBURGH, PA — Amid a $170 million redevelopment plan announced last year, SouthSide Works has announced the impending addition of a new entertainment venue in the space of one that closed last year. Most of the former SouthSide Works Cinemas is being converted into office space that's being called Box Office, but a portion of the former theater will become new entertainment attractions Pins Mechanical Co. and 16-Bit Bar +Arcade. Pins will feature duckpin bowling, a carnival slide, pinball machines and other retro entertainment options, along with craft beers and cocktails. 16-Bit Bar + Arcade is true to its name: a bar with classic video games such as Donkey Kong, Frogger, Street Fighter and Tapper. Sure sounds a lot more fun than office space, which most often lacks any entertainment potential whatsoever.
