Healthy people are sought for participation in a research study of thinking and perception. To participate:
- You must be between 40 and 60 years old
- Good general physical and psychological health
- No history of a central nervous system disorder or problems
- Primary language must be English
- Able to have standard MRI procedure (e.g., no metal in the body; not claustrophobic – afraid of being in closed spaces).
- For the safety of participants and research staff, COVID-19 vaccination is required before study participation.
- Participants are required to wear a mask during the study sessions.
Participation will involve a number of different activities:
- A set of interviews
- Cognitive assessment of thinking abilities
- Measurement of brain waves while at rest and while completing different tasks on a computer (through EEG and MRI)
Participants will visit twice, spend 5-6 hours with us at the Truman Medical Center (TMC), Hospital Hill (2301 Holmes Street, Kansas City, MO 64108) and the KUMC Hoglund Brain Imaging Center, (3901 Rainbow Boulevard, Kansas City, KS, 66160). Days and times for the sessions are arranged based on the participant's availability and preference.
If eligible for all study procedures, participants will be paid $150 for their time. If necessary, transportation will be provided from the TMC to the KUMC.
The study is being run by Dr. Seung Suk Kang at University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). All information is kept strictly confidential.
