Description
Hey Austin! My name is Chris Sawey and I’m looking for a place to park my 1953 Shasta which has served as my home for the past 2 years. Before that this camper was part of many campers in a thriving business called @AustinGlamping. The time has come to move from my current spot in South Austin to a new location that feels true and aligned with who I am and my values. Not that my current place doesn’t, it’s just time to continue onward and upward. So who am I? Haha, Well this question is always challenging because I’m trying to do it without attributing it to what I DO! But what I do is a reflection of who I am and how I spend my time and energy. So with that.. I’m an artist. I like to make things, create things, and make the world a better place to live through my art. The way I’ve done that over the years has taken many forms and mediums but as of the last decade it’s been designing and building clever and intentional spaces through limitations and resourcefulness. It seems to be what I do really well and have enjoyed for over a decade. I believe in creating home. I believe in creating beautiful and unique spaces where people feel they belong. Because that IS what Home is for me. With my life on wheels I’ve learned to make Home where I am, and a big part of that is with space yes, but mostly the people that I choose to walk along side of. My pursuit in life is to become the best version of myself I can be so that I may leave this world better than I came into it. I live the way that I do because I believe it helps me honor and stick to my values in a way that aligns with the lifestyle and the person I want to live and become. The tenants of my life are built around community, sustainability and home. That simple. I have another camper I live out of in Wimberly that provides me with the slow and natural pace along with the nature and wildlife component that my soul seems to crave. In the summers, I spend my time in deep woods of Alaska continuing to build out my off-grid cabin and retreat center on the water. Now, with a new spot in Austin, this will allow me to enjoy in the many activities that Austin offers, like yoga, poetry nights, evening fire pit hangouts, dinner parties with old friends, garden parties, etc… So what’s in it for you? Well, that’s kinda up to you. The agreement in the past with my many other co-collaborators (landlords) is rent money, but also supplemented help with home projects, contracting help, design services, labor and sweat equity, and access to my vetted labor pools. In short, I build equity in your home by putting my unique touch on your property with my camper and with other projects you need help with. My Company HomeIsHowYouBuildIt has established itself in Austin as a leading design build firm that does just about everything design and remodeling. We are incredibly selective what type of projects we are part of, but the knowledge and expertise I bring is perhaps one of the biggest contributions to what I could bring to the table. If your still reading this, I’m proud of you! But for now, I’ll leave it there. If you find yourself getting excited, or with a strong desire to reach out, please do so. I understand there is financial incentive to these types of arrangements and I am of course happy and willing to have such discussions. It’s part of it, of course. The goal is a win-win for the both of us and at the same time, I believe this is more than money or financial gains, but an opportunity to create something beautiful and magical together for the good, joy, and sense of belonging for many. Feel free to learn more about me here. I pride myself on being real and authentic. What you see is what you get.
