5K Race with Zombie Zones The first annual Stirling Books & Brew 5K ZOMBIE RUN! will traverse the Albion River Trail and Riverside Cemetery, finishing on Superior Street in front of Stirling Books & Brew. The race starts at 6:30pm. There will be designated Zombie Zones on the course where the zombies will interact with the runners (no contact). All proceeds from the event will benefit the Citizens to Beautify Albion, who do such an amazing job with flowers around our city, and helping to keep the place clean and bright. Course map (click here) / Course Description: The 3.1 mile race course starts behind Stirling Books & Brew, 119 N Superior St. (Parking lot behind Stirling Books address for directions is 150 N Clinton St). Starting in the public parking lot behind Stirling, turn Left on S Clinton then Left on Cass St. After crossing over Superior Street, turn right on Market Pl to the Albion River Trail. The course follows the Albion River trail to where it meets up with Riverside Cemetery. Through Riverside Cemetery to South Superior Street, and up the east side of Superior St ending across the street from Stirling Books & Brew. Course Aid: There will be volunteers or police officers at key points on the course for the runners safety. Volunteers will be equipped to communicate any aid needs. Zombie zones will be supervised for appropriate conduct. Note that there will be no water stations on the course, but water will be available after the race. Zombie Zones: There will be two or three Zombie Zones where the runners and zombies come together. Zombies are not allowed to run or make physical contact with runners (and no weapons - even pretend weapons - are allowed). Runners are not allowed real or pretend weapons or to make contact of any kind with the zombies. Zombies should be in place in one of the zombie zones by 6:35pm. Post-race social: All runners, zombies, and volunteers are invited to socialize at Stirling Books & Brew after the race, or hang out at one of our fine establishments downtown, Lopez Taco House, Cascarelli's of Albion, or the Albion Malleable Brewing Company. Volunteers: Volunteers are needed for numerous roles:; along the course for keeping the runners headed in the right direction, monitors for the zombie zones to ensure no weapons, no contact, and no inappropriate behavior, and photographers to capture the runners and the zombie/runner interactions.
