IN-PERSON: Crime Prevention & Home Fire Safety In this class, you will learn about important crime prevention and home fire safety tips. You will learn how to protect yourself against fraud and identity theft, what to do if you are a victim of a scam, learn personal safety and home security protection tips and how to identify suspicious activity and how to report it. You will also learn important home fire safety tips and how to practice important safety habits to prevent fires in the home. Learn the importance of creating a home escape plan, how to call 9-1-1 in an emergency and discover important community resources to help you and your family stay safe. The department also provides protection for the unincorporated areas adjacent to those cities. The department's area of coverage is shown in dark green in the map below. SCCFD Area of Coverage Wrapping in an approximately 20 mile arc around the southern end of "Silicon Valley", the Santa Clara County Fire Department has grown to include 15 fire stations, an administrative headquarters, a maintenance facility, five other support facilities, 19 pieces of apparatus and 3 command vehicles, to cover 128.3 square miles (267 square km) and a population of over 226,700.
