Scott, The New York Times JUDAS AND THE BLACK MESSIAH is the true story of the infiltration of the Chicago branch of the Black Panther Party by informant Bill O’Neal and the assassination of Fred Hampton at the hands of the FBI. Produced by Oakland native Ryan Coogler and directed by Shaka King, the film masterfully explores the history throughout the narrative format, exposing this very recent installment of the federal government’s surveillance and intentional destruction of Black communities. Film begins at sundown around 7:30pm. Come early to claim a good spot, enjoy an ice-cold beer from Fort Point Beer Company (all proceeds support outdoor cinema at PROXY!) and delicious food from the Viva Vegan food truck! Consistent with SFDPH Guidelines, no masks or distancing will be required for all vaccinated attendees. All PROXY staff will be wearing masks when interacting with the audience. Our design embraces the vast diversity of a city and encourages the rotation of new ideas and businesses as well as innovative public art installations which come and go like new visitors at the site.
