Get To Know Marty Morrison, Mitch Towne, & Eric Slaughter
Marty Morrison is currently on the Jazz Studies faculty at Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. Having been exposed to music at a very young age through his father, his journey has included collaborations with countless jazz luminaries, most notably on the east coast. He performs extensively in Kansas City and St. Louis and holds degrees from Southern Illinois University.
Mitch Towne is a keyboardist and touring musician, and is widely considered as the "go-to" Hammond organist in the Midwest. His ability to move seamlessly between diverse styles has made him a sought-after side-man with artists as varied as jazz/R&B artist and Grammy-winning producer Terrace Martin, jazz heavyweights Ryan Kisor, Dave Stryker and Adam Larson, blues artists Eric Gales and Ben Poole, and multi-platinum artist Aloe Blacc. In 2015, Towne played organ on the track "Push" for the album "Velvet Portraits" by Terrace Martin, which was nominated for a 2016 Grammy for "Best R&B" album.
To say that guitarist Eric Slaughter brings it every time he steps on stage would be the understatement of the year. Slaughter’s rich musical upbringing, from early family influences to his time at the Berklee College of Music, set the stage for him to become the premier guitarist he is. Working with everyone from David Sanborn, Houston Person, and Donald Harrison to St. Louis legends Oliver Sain and Willie Akins, Slaughter’s guitar prowess is second to none.
