Description

#1: Experience is not the main criteria - ATTITUDE and a professional outlook is. #2: "Great" vocal pipes are not an over- riding criteria - the ability to carry a tune, harmonize, and deliver/perform in a sincere manner is the key #3: I play guitar, banjo, and mandolin, so some ability on an unplugged instrument is essential for a varied sound. Now that 1,2, and 3 are listed, let me explain a bit. "Seasoned male folkie" - I have had a great career playing all kinds of music, and was a musical director for Dick Clark, so my rock and roll pulse is strong - but I have always felt very comfortable in acoustic environments, and roots/folk music supports that. In the midst of my R&R years, I still performed solo at many folk venues and shows. My agent was also one of the Kingston Trio's agents, and I played with Bob Shane when illness and weather precluded the rest of the group joining him. Over the past few years, I have started renewing that folk side while still electrically twanging away in pit orchestras and studio sessions. Prior to Covid, a one man performance/show that I developed was catching on, and I have decided that it would be more effective by adding and rounding out with another like-minded person. Call it ying and yang, salt and pepper, hot and cold, but I am looking for a female so as to provide variety to an audience. "Great vocal pipes" are not needed, but a vocal ability to put a song across is - of course picking the right material helps that immeasurably. Another aspect of that is being able to sing to the back of the room, not just the immediate front rows. Playing an unplugged instrument will be a necessity - being a virtuoso on it is not. Development comes quickly with repetition, performance, and practice. There is plenty more information I can provide - but if the first part of this did not intrigue you or arouse your musical curiosity, it is probably not right for you. Texting and emails are great for "Pick up milk" -- "OK" or "Home in 5". But for this instance, a phone call with a voice is what will open the door to the next steps. Thanks, Jim (seven-1-five) 7-eight-1 one-2-nine-1
